Baby's First Christmas Ornament

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:16-17

‘My 1st Christmas Ornament’ is made in several layers of epoxy resin over a period of 4-5 days. Since one of my favorite passages is John 10:27 I chose a precious sleeping lamb to be embedded in it. The background layer is white marbleized resin while the remaining layers are clear. Accents on the little girl’s along with the ribbon is pink and on the little boy’s is blue. The baby’s name (maximum of 14 letters) and the year of his or her birth will be printed in a layer along with the scripture Colossians 3:16-17. The Ornament is a 3.25” square set on an angle. As with all my merchandise a scripture card will be included and a Care Card with info on how to preserve your ornament. These are made to order and will take approximately 5 working days to complete.

You may wonder why I didn’t use Psalm 139:14, or even 1 Samuel 1:27 as the bible verse for my ornament. After thinking about it and praying over the whole design I realized that this ornament isn’t for the parents. It says My First Christmas, so I am assuming that it will go with the child once he or she is grown, to adorn their own tree. My hope is that each time it is hung on the tree, whether as a toddler, a teen, or adult, they will be reminded of these verses in which Paul gives both the Colossians as us: encouragement and instruction on how to live our lives individually and communally.
